either get shrimp too big for the fish to eat or get ones that they will eat. I have a nice sized rock shrimp in one of my tanks but he lives with calmer fish. in the population you describe you might want a crawdad instead

Im not sure about the rest of the fish, but I know when we had dwarf puffers, they'd eat as many shrimp as they could get their mouths on. We would put in 100 ghost shrimp at a time, and they'd last a week or two. (4 puffers)

i would go with ghost shrimp because they are fairly clear, and cannot easily be seen by your fish...

otherwise...with the fish that you have..specifically the puffers, and tigers....i dont think that havinf shrimp would really be a great idea, as they would have a high chance of actually being killed and eaten by these fish.

if you wanted to, you could maybe go for something like a blue lobster, or just a crawfish...but they even they will most likely go after your fish....

just some food for thought.

Shrimp and puffers don't make good tankmates.
However, if you want to give shrimp a try, you can go with adult ghost shrimp (they reproduce easy, too) or some rock / banana / fan shrimp, which get pretty big and should be safe from your puffers and other fish.

freshwater hermit crabs are acutally brackish.

no shrimp will survive long the puffers and loaches(other than hillstreams and sucler loaches).

dwarf puffers are NOT communityfish, they will nip the fins of the other fish. you should either get a 10g with 2 of them or rehome them.

You should at least get one more hatchet fish, because they like to school in at least three. Six hatchet if you have a big enough tank. Some tetras might fit in nice.

a blue one! They rock! and they shed their armour so dont get scared when you see the empty shell.

slightly concerned the tiger barbs would nip it but depends on the size of the tank. Our shrimp grew 4 inches long.
