If you're a native Texan, I'm sorry to see ya go & good luck to ya!
If you're a yankee going back to the frozen waste of that overpriced concrete jungle then....
I'm not sorry to see ya go & good luck to ya!

As someone who was born in Brooklyn, NY (one of the five boroughs of NYC), all I can ask is, "Why would you want to move there?"
The job had better pay REALLY well. Your cost of living will triple (most of that will be rent, which is about four times what it is here per square foot). Everything costs more there.
The people are nowhere near as friendly, and if you don't watch your step someone will step on you or push you aside without second thought. IT IS CROWDED. I took my wife there in December 2005 and she was amazed (and a bit overwhelmed). The winter weather in NYC is cloudy, gloomy, slushy, cold, and wet. Spring is nice enough, but it doesn't start until some time in April. Summers are muggy, and air conditioning is the exception rather than the rule (invest in a window unit).
You couldn't pay me enough to move back there. Texas is home and I'm happy here.

It must be a job opportunity, as there is no other good reason to leave Texas (ok, maybe a spouse's job -- maybe). Seriously, though, Houston may be hot in the summer, but if you're a native Texan, you're going to hate NYC winters!!! The city life is also way different then our city life. People are different there, too. Remember, we're a whole other country here!
Good luck! We'll miss ya!

Houston IS the "NYC of the South!" I just left Manhattan. GREAT to visit but stay in Texas. . unless you're one of those "destined to live in NYC." The south is not a fit for everyone, though. . I LOVE NYC it's just not reasonable to live there more than 3 months out the year.

Why? It's so bleeding expensive to live here. The weather sucks - it's 90+ degrees with 100% humiditiy in the summer, and right now it's a whopping 20 degrees outside.
