Not sure, I'm like the other guy I haven't actually seen one since the 60's. But that doesn't mean they aren't there. The area is over run with Deer, and coyotes. I've seen Mountain Lions and the fish and game said there aren't any. So, I wouldn't be surprized to learn there were still a few.

In 2007 two timber wolves escaped from a private facility near Branson, a male and a pregnant female that was do to give birth any day. A search for them last for them never turned up any of the pups or the female. I'm not positive but a friend told me the male had been shot by a farmer near Branson West. Many of the people involved in the search stated that the female and pups could survive if they stayed hidden in the hills around there and around the lake. This is my opinion, but if they have escaped from being run over from all the traffic down there they could still be alive, though it is possible for coyotes or even a bear to come across the pups while the mom was out hunting, who knows?!

Not anymore. There are coyotes, but we haven't had wolves in several years. When I was a boy growing up, we used to have a gray wolf that would walk through our yard everyday about noon, on his way to get a drink at a nearby pond. When he stepped in the yard, both of our dogs would hide. He wasn't the least bit afraid of us, because he would walk within 50 feet of us as we played in the yard. He kept his eye on us as he passed but he never even hinted at being aggressive toward us. He was huge in size, and had the most piercing eyes. That was the last time I saw a wolf in swmo. That would have been about 1965-66.

No. Wild dogs and a few cougars. If you had wolves and cougars living in the same area, your deer population would fall greatly and since SW Missouri has a good if not great deer population then your seeing wild dogs.

Keeping a wolf as a pet is illegal or at least unwise. A stray dog may not be any tamer than a wolf.
