nothing from nothing leaves nothing. Utter lack of property or opportunity since being released with nothing. Your family and support structure has provided you with a level of opportunity for some capital and starting base even if meager. They're still scraping away against this and such opposition as people like you. Where not only is thier limited opportunity in the family structure but with much of society still holding a grudge. They are progressing and many are doing very well.

The government has always recognized these problems and has attempted to address them in some form even since 1855. There has always been opposition on the subject. After all they were freed, and the mess that was with the civil war. The US at the time was still dealing with the Indian problem. Again a devisive issue. So, they (some) understood the need to integrate people and give them a leg up or else they may become lost and cause a problem.

The efforts are often hindered and counteracted by the opposition at thier chance, as seen with the limited rights these people had untill 50 yrs ago and the colorful joust of constitutional amendments and jim crow laws directly intending to maintain thier domination of this labor force.

Woah............ Stop right there .............. You are soooooooooo wrong. There are a **** load of whites on it I would say way more then blacks. That is being raciest, You wonder why ALL white people get bashed........... You need to say your sorry.

We need major reform !!! If you get welfare YOU SHOULD BE FORCED TO WORK. But too many say "they will lower my food stamps" Isn't that the whole point?

They get 2000-6000 back in tax money they never paid in because they have kids. If you get welfare that money should go back into the welfare system.

They need to tell them after 2 kids they get fixed or No more extra help and should be 2 years and your off......2 years is enough time to Get a job and take care of yourself

THE POOR ARE Not victims if they wont help themselves..... They need to work and try to make a better life for their children.

Its not a BLACK problem Its a World problem. The N word (which im shocked you didnt use with your mind set........ ) Is NOT refering to the Back person it IS About worthless people that want something for nothing and think everyone needs to support them. Every race has them. I have worked with Many black women and they will work circles around alot of the white co workers SO STOP BASHING ........ God truly doesnt see a color Some he just gave better tans.:)

Tried to fix typos lol Sorry was mad , and was typing to fast

I agree with you miss. We should be taking care of our elderly and disabled that are on fixed incomes and CANT WORK, verses someone that is just too lazy to work.

As soon as a person gets disability the goverment takes away its help. They think that person can live on that 600 a month total and that has to pay everything. Gas, food, meds ect.or less. But they will give more then 600.00 to a mom with 3-4 kids in food stamps. And pay all of her medical and even her rent. Because she wont work

I happen to know quite a few white people who are or who have been on welfare. I don't think it is fair to say that one race or the other has more people on welfare without accurate data.

As far as welfare reform goes there are a few things we can do. We can make people who are on welfare attend college classes or get their GEDs. We can offer help to lower the cost of daycare. Most importantly we need to teach birth control instead of abstinece and make it readily available.

Wow. A simple google search could have prevented what should be a very embarrassing question to you. It is not wise to make blanket assumptions based on an obvious personal ethnic bias. It's too easy to disprove.

Here are welfare recipient percentages by ethnicity as of 1996 and I have provided a link for you as well:

White: 35.9%
Black: 36.9%
Hispanic 20.8%
Asian 3%
Native Americans 1.4%
Unknown 2.0%

EDIT: Yes the percentages have to be figured differently when you take the total percentage of white to black in this country. But I am responding to RLP's "so few whites (if any)" portion of her question. It's ludicrous, there are many whites on welfare so this question is NOT a good one when you put it in the exact light she herself framed it in.

there are whites on welfare too. and yes, there needs to be reform in the way of opportunities, education, and employment for the willing, and an end to supporting the unwilling.
Disabled persons, however, should be exempt to this.

RLP's CLONE -
Elway brought up figures and relative to the % of each in the US blacks should not be at 36% if they are ONLY 10% of the population so this is actually a good question.

We do need reform and make every able bodied person work for a living and take care of the elderly, disabled, and the children.

There lots of white people on welfare too. But yes, we do need welfare reform. It should be used as a stepping stone to a better life, not a permanent lifestyle and crutch.

That is the most ignorant and blatantly bigotted question I have read today.

"If any"... Of course there are all races on welfare.

Maybe the blacks that you hate so much for being on welfare can't get a job because people like you won't hire them.

Interesting

Since we all know that Corporate Welfare out distances personal welfare in tax payer cost. Your data suggests that most Corporations are owned by Blacks.
