Do you think an employee of the Education Department (IT) who continually works (4 years) in an unsafe and arogant manner and performs substandard work be sacked. Should the Dept be accountable and liable for not following through with disciplanary action for such behaviour even after reports have been made regarding the work and safety standards??

I have had to resign my position due to concern for the safety of myself, collegues and students have gone ignored.

Absolutely he should be sacked. I find myself pondering a similar situation at my son's school, where an untrained mother has been working as a teacher's aide from the start of the year, getting work over suitably trained mothers who are on the waiting list for employment.

It just doesn't figure does it? But i suppose it's who you know, not what you know, or how good you are at kissing butt.

I hope you find employment soon, you and me both!!

Do you think there's a chance he was breaking laws? If so, consult an attorney for further info.

If you quit because your physical safety was at risk, it is possible you could win a civil suit to recoup some of your lost salary and possibly get your job back.

Your best results will be if you have left a paper trail and went through the proper steps to report against this person while you were still working there. When you left did you leave a letter indicating why you quit?

IF the facility itself was dangerous or if the reports of dangerous activity on the part of this person were ignored by the company you may also be able to file a civil suit against the company.

Unfortunately arrogance is not against the law, nor is performing poorly on the job. The only area you might have a chance in would be if your personal safety was genuinely at risk.

Yeah. And sadly you are now out of a job. If you had to do it over again you wouldn't be so hasty.
Remember he is still working.
The department investigated and didn't agree with you.

The Repuplics have a plan for you. Seeing that you are a failure as a teacher in Bush's wonderful "Ever Child Left Behind Program", will, accept your station in life and join the Army, and welcome to the Deciders World!
