U didn't say if the rubber bands are in parallel or series.

The rubber band is a spring. If springs are connected in parallel, the spring constants add (the force from each spring add), ie 8 times increase in spring constant and 8 times increase in force acting on the object, so accel is 8x more. If the springs are in series, then the equivalent spring constant is 1/keq = 1/k1 + 1/k2, etc. For 8 springs in series, the keq = k/8. Then the force on the object is reduced by 8 times, the accel is 1/8 of 1.8 m/s^2

Now, the mass is doubled, the accel is halved.
