Everyone has said Castaways... Not a bad place but it's just not close enough to LA it being in BURBANK. I have been to the Castaway the foods ok but it'a a place you go for the view.

Now possibly the best view of Downtown LA would have to be the Windows Restaurant in the South Park area of LA it has a view of the entire LA Skyline, This place has great food and excellent drinks.

I'm kinda surprised that no one's mentioned the Bonavista Lounge ontop of the Hotel Bonaventure... This Place have to be a favorite of mine... because it's on the of the Bonaventure and the best part is that it rotates slowly, it takes about a little over an hour to make a complete turn.

Thousand Cranes in Little Tokyo is pretty nice this one would give you a look at City Hall and East Side of Downtown.

Last place that I know about is the Sky Room in Long Beach this place is on the top floor of the Breakers Building on Lotus. This place is pretty cool, kinda like a flask back in time very retro and it aslo has views of the Queen Mary aswell as most of Downtown Long Beach.

Castaway gives you a view of the Valley, so don't bother going there since you've been there and done that. And besides, the food is terrible and it's a crowded destination for cheesy weddings and proms.

Yamashiro has a splendid view of L.A. , but the food is disgusting there too...and if you get seated indoors, there's no view at all. Good for drinks, though.

Shay's suggestion is ill-informed. There is no Don Antonio's in Hollywood unless she is referring to the cruddy, Mexican joint on Pico which has no view at all. and The Hills?!... "Girl, what are you talking about !?" Your advice is suspect.

I would suggest going downtown to LA Prime at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The restaurant revolves so you get a 360 view of the whole city...downtown and everything. pretty cool. Steaks are amazing too.

Try Orange Hill in Orange County - they have the best views. And depending upon the night, you can enjoy fireworks shows from Knotts Berry Farm !

Not sure of one overlooking downtown LA, but there's Yamashiro's in Hollywood and Castaways in Burbank. Great views at both of them.
