Okay, I'm 'old' (56) and I NEVER use 'lol' or any of the 'computerese' spellings, and if you think that sort of thing is bad, then you should do as I do, and simply write out what you want to say in 'proper English' ... eventually, maybe the ones who write in 'computerese' will recover and find out that we've been 'right' all along!

She even figured out how to put exclamation points INSIDE question marks.

Lol. What does it mean exactly? Lots of love? Laugh out loud? Lack of learning?

ya from years of online gaming i've discovered that if a person is really laughing out loud, there will be a pause and then an all caps exclamation such as "LMAO" or "ROFL" or "HAHAHA
lol almost never really means they're laughing out loud. it's really overused

I think it is. People say it whne they cannot think of anything to say. I doubt they think some of the things I have said when they use it are very funny.
