The first thing you are talking about is "It's the end of the World' and "As we Know it" and as I remember it the subject was not brought up because the destruction was minimal and no one on the staff was injured.

The other episode you are asking about is "Yesterday". And the answer is No. Those were prostetics to make him look like that. There are people who do look like that but that was an actor. His condition is advanced Craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, a rare bone disorder where calcium builds up in the skull and causes facial disfiguration and shorter life expectancy. The actor's name is Jesse Plemons. His bio is below.

Are you just catching up on Season 2? Not sure why much is mentioned in the following episode- all they seem to say about it is a comment about some of the OR rooms having smoke damage and then Bailey asked Meredith if she was doing okay. I'm with you-I expected more to be said about it.

Its one of my favorite shows too- TOO bad that cute cop died huh? That would have been a great replacement for Denny in a future episode huh?!

In most sit-coms or dramas the "relationships" are the only reoccurring item, unless their is a season build around an event. That situation was a "one time thing" to see if we would bite!

We did- I expect you will enjoy this season with the "catastrophic event" that will last several nights. It will not surprise me if a "doctor" dies..... not gonna renew that contract - ha ha

I remember the episode you're talking about. I don't know if the actor in question really had that wrong with him but it is a real disease. It's called Proteus syndrome (named for the shape-shifting god Proteus) it affects tissue other than nerves, and is a sporadic rather than familially transmitted disorder.
