I only use computers outside of work for basic stuff (email, blog, music, photos, etc.). Thanks for the input/feedback!

I was with you until a year ago.
I too was a life long pc user but my hubby wanted a mac (better for games I guess..).
I fought tooth and nail to stick with what I knew.
I lost.
We spent the money last February after tax return was safetly in our account. For a top of the line printer, wireless keyboard and mouse and 20" monitor, our total was around $3000.
IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!
Word is already installed and it is no different than your pc. Power Point, Excell, they are in there too.
It took me all of a day to get comfy with such a user friendly machine.
I now have a family website ($100/ yr thru .mac) that is by invite only, I create home movies and edit them with imovie, downloading music is sooooooo easy with itunes. All of these kinds of extras (and tons more) are already loaded onto the Mac. You don't need to buy new or additional software like you do with your pc.
If you are still unsure, go to a mac store and pick a sales persons brain. They DO NOT work on commission so there is no high pressure sales tactics.
Should you choose the iMac, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $100 and get the ProMac membership. It entitles you to a year of free one on one training with a Mac guru.
Hope this helps you with your decision.

Just a little addition... I see people are saying there is no support. That is a HUGE load of BS. Anytime I've had an issue on how to run a program, I call the mac 800 # and get connected with someone in this country. Everyone has been beyond helpful and I've even gotten calls back to make sure everything was ok. Oh, and every call has been FREE.

Recent Macs can run windows since they now use Intel processors (although if you care about being legal you'll need to buy a separate windows licence which will be extra, the cheapest windows version will do fine though) but the single button on the touchpad could be annoying (unless you never use the right mouse button). Whether you can game on it would thus depend on the hardware in the computer, specifically the graphics chip, not on whether you get windows with the computer.

A mac is only a wanna-be PC , Intel cpu, no bios, and forced to use mac os x (freebsd based -linux). Being about the SAME parts, there is NO benefit at all. mac has far less support, programs, hardware, then even Linux. PC with windows make it very easy to decide what you want as there are many choices, hardware, software, etc., Linux is 2nd, mac last.

I have been a Windows PC also. Recently I have done alot of research on PC v Mac. I won't go on and on but overall I am convinced a Mac is much better. My PC hasnon stop problems as to new viruses and ect. The Mac has no vireses out there. Also video and music on the Mac will be 10x's better on a Mac.

Ofcourse my opinion.

No....

Even though mac's are becomeing more home friendly they are still big graphic editing and designing computers. Even though mac's have less chance of being infected with good protection PC's are well protected. For your uses stay with PC.

To the awnser belowe there are virus's for mac just not as many must not have done enough re-search.

If you only use computers for e-mail, photo's etc, im not sure why you would want a Mac. If you have been using windows for a while, I dont see a reason to change. The only things i like about Apple computers is their style, not their performance

If you have the time to learn a new system and are not just buying it for the sheek and "cool" interface, by all means go for it. But if you do just want it for the interface I suggest just using a windows vista computer, which has a new and sleek feel to it. Also keep in mind that Macs are significantly more expensive. laptops start at 1500 for new.
