I did it when I was pregnant. If the baby hadn't moved for a while I gave him a little poke!! My midwife also said that it is also a good way to start bonding with your little one. Just don't prod too hard!!

I'm sorry, I've tried so hard not to answer this question but I just have to: Isn't it the little prodding that got you into this mess in the first place??

Oh, come on ... it's only a joke! And yes - it's absolutely fine x x Good luck with the baby x

It won't really hurt the baby because it is protected by quite a bit of fluids and skin. The best thing to do if you want to get the baby to move, is try laying on your side and stay that way for a bit. If you don't feel the baby move then try switching sides. There are things that you can do to see if your baby is moving. The doctors do say that about every 4 hours you should be able to feel your baby wake up and move a bit.

Perfectly ok! I just went in for my ultrasound about a week ago, and the doctor kept poking/prodding my stomach alot! She was trying to get the baby to move around a little for her, so we could find out the sex... IT'S A BOY!!

IT's probably ok...cause the baby is in the amniotic fluid ...however...do you like to be "prodded"? lol NO, so what I did was I rented a professional fetal doppler from www.bellybeats.com and I listened to the baby's heartbeat during the whole pregnancy and then when he got big enough to move around you could actually hear him swishing around...it was very cool ... Not only that but when you have those little panic attacks because you haven't noticed baby move for a while...it was really comforting to know he was ok.

The bellybeats are only 20 bucks a month and totally worth it. You can go to target and buy one for about that much and they sell them at motherhood too...but they are totally not the same. The rented one from belly beats was higher quality than the one my doctor had!! I could tell where he was and if he was moving and everything....

Definately worth the investment.

Congratulations!!

I think everybody does this, especially at first and towards the end of pregnancy. A good rule is, if it doesn't hurt you, it can't hurt the baby, so don't worry and prod away! (You might regret waking the little guy up though when he starts kicking you in the ribs at 3am!!)

Yes it's fine to have a little prod, I used to do that to move my babies when they were in uncomfortable positions.

I spent many evenings playing with my son before he was born. He'd kick against my wife's stomach and I'd poke back. We'd keep it up for 15 minutes or more. Drove the wife absolutely nuts! Now he's 9 months old and strong as an ox, standing on his own and walking with support. Enjoy! They're protected enough to survive mom falling in most cases....poke away!

of course jiggling your tummy works well too your body is made to protect the baby from some pretty hard blows so a poke now and again is no big deal

i grew to become into only explaining to my husband what a comforting feeling the newborn moving is. not a actual convenience like it feels solid........yet a psychological convenience. in basic terms some nights in the past I had the comparable element take place as you. My infant only wasn't very energetic. the newborn many times isn't too aweful energetic for the duration of the day (a sprint after food yet it is it) so i did not concern, yet he or she often strikes around like loopy interior the night and he or she or he wasn't. i grew to become into shaking my abdomen somewhat and rubbing it and employing in basic terms a sprint of tension around my abdomen attempting to sense circulate. Tears got here to my eyes while he or she did not respond suited away. Then...there grew to become right into a kick. Oh candy alleviation!!!!! hahahaha
