Tony Dungy would have done whatever it would have taken to win the game. Down the stretch, the Colts had control of the game, the ground attack was working and it was pouring the rain. They didn't need to pass.

I don't think this is the case. The colts had control of the game, and like any intelligent coach, he ran the ball, so he could run down the clock, might as well not give the other team a chance to win the game. In the first half he did have peyton pass the ball, yes he did mix in the run, and when they ran most of the time they ran it down their throats, so in the second half tony went with what worked which was the run, and with the weather, why would you pass more, the chance for the ball to be intercepted is much higher, because passes are not as crisp (because of grip). Besides you run the ball(if you can) when you are in the lead, you control the clock, most of the time you win the game.

Tony Dungy had his team up 12 points for the majority of the 2nd half, and there was no need of him running up the score by passing.

Looks to me like safe play calling and they were having enough success as it was... why risk the interception on the biggest game. Didn't Peyton say something similar. Seemed as though the long pass just didn't pan out unless someone was WIDE open.

....and here come the conspiracy theories about the superbowl!

Mr. Dungy would've done whatever was necessary to ensure a win. End of story.

I don't think so they ran at the end of the game to keep the clock running and it was working also. Why risk it when they were in control of the game.

not really, if he had too he would have in order to win.
in the rain and with a very tired Bear defense, it was not necessary.

they are both very classy coaches who would not rub it in
if they didn't have to.
