Yes, there is danger in pretending because in pretending you would not only be deceiving the people you are acting towards but you would also be lying to yourself, and in most cases when that happens you wouldn't feel happy. As far as I am concerned unhappy person is prone to illness, so strive to accept who you are and stop pretending.

For children up to ten no, helps increase the imagination, is a creative problem solving method. Decreases kids' stress when faced with bullying or trauma.

After pre-adolescence if someone is still pretending most of the time , they may have a problem with rationality or low sense self-esteem or they're mentally ill.

Although in adults we call it daydreaming for fantasizing rather than pretending.

Pretending to be what? Of course there is a danger in pretending not to be you and somebody else. Thatz downright dangerous. Just don't think of the world. Be at your best. Be yourself... :-)

Pretending is healthy and creative but if pretending begins to interfere with a person's function in everyday life then there is a problem.

There can be if people don't know when to stop pretending, but a healthy imagination keeps a person balanced I think.

Well it depends on what you're pretending. If you're pretending you have some one to talk to when you are alone bacause you are lonely, then it's fine. If you're jumping off a building pretending you can fly, that's not favorable.
