protocols are the 'behind the scenes' guts of software that a user will not see - they are the 'actions' that actually do things.

an interface is a user friendly layer on top of the protocols, sitting between the user and the protocols and making it easier for the user to use the software without the need to understand programming.

An interface is the way programming goes together to create an enviroment that is seen with the eyes, involving colors, GUI, and etc.
Protocals are the functions that are added to the system data to ensure they work properly. Normal protocals are disable and enable, exit and open, etc.
