Check out this website to explore the characteristics of psychopaths: http://www.geoffmetcalf.com/psychopath.html

There are plenty of psychopaths out there who don't kill. Not all psychopaths are killers - they could be politicians, managers, pretty much anyone who demonstrates the characteristics described in the link.

Interesting question. Having studied psychology, I think most psychologists would tell you that psychopaths are pre-determined to be selfish and destructive (not necessarily killers, but sometimes) mainly because of brain damage that occurs before birth. Their intelligence may be within the normal range or sometimes even high, but their ability to feel and empathize with others is impaired. However I believe people are a lot more complicated and free will does play a big role. In fact studies show that even in identical twins who should be exactly the same, our predisposition to be the way we are is changed not just by the environment also the choices we make! If you look at the life stories of famous psychopaths, there is a pattern where they start out with minor crimes and only gradually slide towards becoming mass murderers. In other words it's my opinion that some people really do choose to be evil, and they could have chosen otherwise at some point before it went that far.

Psychopaths are generally not very happy and if they do experience happiness it is only short-lived. They do not have the capacity to feel or empathize with other human beings, so they miss out on the fortunes of love, friendship, and companionship. Few are murderers because they like themselves too much to spend the rest of their lives in jail; some on the other hand have totally lost control and ultimately end up seriously injurying others. Happiness is a mood state that most psychopaths have difficulty experiencing because of their reduced capacity to feel.

It depends on what type of psychosis they have. Some psychopathic people are not driven to murder, they may just entertain the thought of doing it without carrying it out. Some, though, like Ted Bundy, needed to murder in order to be fulfilled. And these are the type individuals that I think should be executed, because they can't be cured and they will never stop trying to kill no matter what therapy they undergo. They are driven to take a life in order to feel complete in theirs. The sickest of the sick.

certainly. not all psychopaths are driven to kill. they simply suffer from a mental disorder characterized by

* 1. Superficial charm and average intelligence.
* 2. Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking.
* 3. Absence of nervousness or neurotic manifestations.
* 4. Unreliability.
* 5. Untruthfulness and insincerity.
* 6. Lack of remorse or shame.
* 7. Antisocial behavior without apparent compunction.
* 8. Poor judgment and failure to learn from experience.
* 9. Pathological egocentricity and incapacity to love.
* 10. General poverty in major affective reactions.
* 11. Specific loss of insight.
* 12. Unresponsiveness in general interpersonal relations.
* 13. Fantastic and uninviting behavior with drink, and sometimes without.
* 14. Suicide threats rarely carried out.
* 15. Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated.
* 16. Failure to follow any life plan.
the desire to kill isn't among these, but because of these factors, psychopaths are more likely to act on violent impulses

Nope. I'm as crazy as they come and no matter how hard I tried I still ended up guilty... I paid my taxes. Some of that went into the war machine and lots of people are dead now. No way around that.
