my friend just rang me and said that every time he searches a page on the web he gets the 'page cannot be displayed' page coming up,its happening on everything he searches for yet yesterday it was fine.does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing this your help is much appreciated

The server may be down. If it's not that try rebooting the PC. You could also try system restore to go back one day.

Could be a number of things, check the cables, make sure they all plugged in, maybe that the ISP is down or server is down, possibel hardware conflict, or configuration conflict, best thing is to try and remember when it worked last and what changes were made by you, before it went pear shaped. Maybe the modem has packed up. Hope this helps

Sounds like something to do with their internet connection. google.com is a good page to use to see if your internet is working as it loads up quick. They'll have to check their settings, etc. If they have and everything seems to be ok but it's still not working they'll probably have to ring their internet service provider, which I'm afraid is never that fun.

Try this:

Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > right click your LAN connection and left click Repair.

Also, clear your history, cookies, and temporary internet files in Internet Options.

Now try again.

he should try to check his internet connection settings.
he's probably disconnected from the internet or something.
