Paid women to have more children and NOT be married.

Having a baby lost it's "stigma" and became common to where some people think it's NORMAL.

There should SOMETHING to discourage unwed mothers from having babies. Babies need moms AND dads.

Lila - I'm saying - It's not TOTALLY the fault of the poor - they were experimented on. Just like busing that didn't work. BUT - there is also PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

We need major reform !!! If you get welfare YOU SHOULD BE FORCED TO WORK. But too many say "they will lower my food stamps" Isn't that the whole point?

They get 2000-6000 back in tax money they never paid in because they have kids. If you get welfare that money should go back into the welfare system.

There are ALOT of people on welfare< The same ones that have been on it for years.

They need to tell them after 2 kids they get fixed or No more extra help and should be 2 years and your off......2 years is enough time to Get a job and take care of yourself

THE POOR ARE Not victims if they wont help themselves..... They need to work and try to make a better life for their children.

And so many of them live with someone but dont turn it in so they get the food and free rent ect, And get the income to spend too.... The ones that have been on it for years have learned how to milk the system and DO.

So many would not be so poor if they would work, Try to make a good life for their kids, but instead they teach them to sit home, and have babies and you can get welfare.

first off - I blame the women’s lib movement on the demise of the family… too much is expected of wonem these days and so mothers are busy working outside the home and they are not taking the time to completly fulfill their maternal role…

Second - lack of public Sexual education... limited asscess to contraception / emergency contraception..
Unfortunately so many conservatives think sexually health and family planning should not be taught in schools… You cant expert people to be responsible and live their lives the way you think they should… especially when you don’t tell them what the expectations or the norms are… And unfortunately, most parents do not teach their children, the subject is often off limits…

So here we go.. oops.. Here come’s baby.. Because society let down another kid who didn’t have good parents to teach them… she didnt know her options... then she tries to do whats right for her all the while Pro-life groups are yelling st her telling her god meant for her to have a baby & abortion is murder… other telling them her she is unfit to to be a good mothers…

Quit bashing & start helping…

While I think welfare has gotten out of hand, I don't think most unwed mothers have children simply to get more handouts. In fact, that's an incredibly cynical statement. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but wow.

Also, while I think it's good to have two parents, I was raised by a single mother (after age 9), and I turned out okay...

Oh, look at the time. I've got to get to the Satanic Church. I'm meeting my gay man-slave for a night of unprotected sodomy and intravenous drug use.

The poor are not to blame for the demise of the family, so just stop this insane belief system of blaming the poor. The poor are the victims of our discriminatory system, not the people to blame for it.
Just to let you know, birth rates are down in this country including with the poor. Welfare was cut dramatically in the 90's and your argument doesn't hold water as a result.
Second, the so called demise of the family is due to alot of things that result in more personal issues with each family. The number one reason for divorce in this country is finances and debt. This should tell you something and that is the middle class is being stretched beyond limits and the corporate classes are making out like bandits. And our values as a nation have been warped by massive consumerism for crap and entertainment to keep us from thinking for ourselves and to keep us distracted from the realities of who is taking over the country. WAKE UP. your simplistic sloganeering is being manufactured by the powers that be. The social engineering going on today is that the rich have the power and they are legislating laws to help them get more tax benefits for themselves while they rake in the profits. That is the actual social engineering going on. It's called corporate and trust fund baby welfare. When are the Paris Hilton's of the world going to start learning personal responsibility. Busing didn't work because it took people out of their communities and allowed politicians to cut spending to inner city schools even more. Come on man, open your eyes. Again, you blame the poor. But the poor are the ones who have 2 jobs and 3 jobs and are trying to raise a family. Welfare is so rare now due to Clinton's cutting of it. If you want personal responsibility, please start looking at the top and require them to have the same first. it's a nice idea for those who keep espousing it to start having it themselves and stop preaching to the rest of us about it.

Having a baby is not normal?

Let me get this straight:

You're probably against abortion, right? But, you think there should be a stigma (shame) attached to having a baby?

No. You're looking in the wrong place. The conservative movement is what's slowly destroying families.

No. It's more the divisiveness of the religious conservative movement and their insistence in defining "family" based on 3000 year old jewish tribal custom.

iT PLAYED A PART BUT NOT AS MUCH AS THE LIBERAL MEDIA INCLUDING HOLLYWOOD. They are so anti-Christian and anti-American that they no longer care about traditional family values.
