If you are looking for something off the radar of most booksellers, I'd recommend Phoenix Tales by Gregory Bernard Banks if you like speculative fiction. It is a collection of short stories that involve the line between life and death. I've included a link to a review I wrote for the book last year.
It would help if you were more specific about what type of book you were looking for. Most of my reviews are of speculative literature, so that is going to be the focus of anything I recommend.

You aren't very specific here.
Do you want fiction or non-fiction?
What kinds of books do you find interesting?
If fiction, what genres? If non-fiction, what fields?
here are a few non-fiction books
Dibs In Search of Self by Virgina Axline
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, Oliver Sacks (anything by Sacks, really)
The Discoverers
anything by Miss Manners
Gould's Reflections on Natural History series (Ever Since Darwin is the first)

The book about the artist frida is really good I love her work and the Mexican culture like dia de los muertos. Memoirs of a geisha is good I the geisha lifestyle is somewhat discussed in the book Like water for chocolate is good too. In the mind of a mad man is a good book short but good.
