He took me to Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas for one week for my 55th birthday. I have a card, but I want to put in my own personal note inside. I need help in what words to use. We live in Ohio, so it was a very expensive gift. We even flew first class and stayed at Harrah's, Atlantis, and Bellagio. It was fantastic. He had me make the reservations 5 days before leaving. I was shocked! Please help. Should I do more than a card? Thanks everybody!

A thank you card?

Don't you see him in person?

Sorry, but that just sounds nutty to me, to send a thank you card.

I'm assuming you gushed appreciation and happiness repeatedly before, during, and after the trip.

What you should do is, let him know when you recall the trip, and how much you enjoyed it. And be super nice to him, generally.

Then spend the time between now and his birthday figuring out what you can do for him that he would love as much as you loved your trip.

Congrats on the fabulous gift. Amazing spouse.

I would write:

(Favorite endearment)

What an amazingly thoughtful husand you are, for giving me such an amazingly thoughtful and lavish gift! I had a wonderful time, and I just wanted to thank you for making my birthday both special and memorable.

Thank you Darling (or 2nd favorite endearment)

I love you.

If you want to do more than a card, how about his favorite dinner and dessert (this would not be the time to mention his cholesterol. One night of indulgence shouldn't hurt. To be sure, you can always check with his doctor, before cooking.)

If food is out, tickets to a sporting event, or another favorite activity. If you give him tickets, put them by his plate at breaksfast or dinner. Big kiss and let him know you just wanted to show your appreciation, by doing this small thing for him, because he did such a great thing for you.

Hope this helps!

A nice card, and just thank him in your own words...whatever comes into your heart. Tell him that the trip meant a lot to you, but more important is the time and thought he put into such a special gift, and that you are happy that the 2 of you could share such a special time together. After your message...tell him you want to treat him to dinner at a very nice restaurant...then do it! You have a special guy there...keep him!!!

Cards are nice and thoughtful when in your own words because they express your feelings. A nice alternative can be something like a plaque especially made for him, you can have it inscribed with your own words/thoughts/feelings. Simply go to a trophy/plaque shop and let them know what you're looking for and what you'd like to do. If you should go that route select a shop that services companies and higher end clientele as opposed to one that serves mostly little league teams and the like. I did this for my husband and he loved it because it was unique and from the heart. Good luck!
