While the cheetah is the fastest mammal in a sprint, they can't keep up that speed for long.

For travelling, you need an animal with more endurance, that can keep up their speed for hours at a time.

The pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) is not quite as fast as a cheetah in a sprint, but can reach a pretty darned respectable 50 mph or more, and can keep it up for long periods of time. They apparently have more endurance than a horse, as well as a higher speed - so they could easily cover more ground than a horse if they so desired (they rarely do, however, usually moving about 4 to 6 miles a day in winter, and less in summer).

The wolverine (Gulo gulo) travels hundreds of miles every month as part of its normal territorial wanderings, which is a lot more rapid travelling than pretty much most any other terrestrial animal.

Grey whales (Eschrichtius robustus) make a migration of 5,000 to 7,000 miles every six months from the polar regions to the Baja region, and then go back again. It usually takes them a few months to travel, but during that time, they are often covering more than a hundred miles a day. That's some pretty fast travelling.

The cheetah, indigenous to south-western Asia and Africa, is the fastest mammal on earth. Everything about the cheetah is built for speed. Large nostrils, lungs, liver, heart and adrenals give the cheetah a tremendous physical responsiveness. The long slender body is flexible and curls like a whip for huge bursts of acceleration. Special paw pads and nonretractible claws give excellent traction. Cheetahs can accelerate from 0 - 45 mph in two seconds and top speeds of 71 mph can be maintained for up to 300 yards. The fastest cheetahs have been clocked at over 90 mph.

Or humans if you are in a jet lol

The fasting traveling mammal is man. I have never herd of any other animal, mammal or not, that can travel from New York to California in 5 hours.

The cheetah is the fastest animal alive, but a human can outrun any animal over a long distance.
