This is a very hot topic right now, but let's put some sense into it.
The earth is not a static environment, it is constantly changing, drought, severe weather, & natural disasters are part of our ecology.
10,000 years ago there was a sheet of ice across most of North America, how exactly did that melt?
The earth is billions of years old, accurate recording of temperature has only been around for a few centuries at the most.
In the 1960's it was a consensus that the ice caps were expanding, in the 1990's the hole in the ozone was going to give us all skin cancer. What happened there?
Scientists like everyone else need a job, governments fund their research. Wasn't there undeniable proof that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction?
Finally, who is going to pay for the infrastructure & bureaucracy to combat "climate change" I doubt it will be Exxon Mobil or Wal-Mart. Consumers (like you & me) will shoulder that financial burden.
Need I say more........?

Thank you for posting this. I believe you completely. You're right the scientists need money, and probably some of the green home builders are paying them off, too. Who knows, but I really do not think that global warming is anything to worry about. When watching it on the news the story keeps changing and it keeps on getting worse. So whats that suppose to mean. I think there just trying to scare america into doing stuff that, yeah will help us, but its not really that important.

Fact. Temperatures are going up.
Fact. We know more about global weather than ever.
Fact. Higher temps mean bad times for a lot of people.
Fact. Higher temps are not the end of the world
Fact. Higher temps will be a boom to many parts of the world.
Fact. Looking at the last half millions years, things are very cool right now.

The only thing that makes me care about global warming is that the things we can do to fix it are things we should do anyway. Green technologies are good economically, ecologically and politically.

HERE WE GO AGAIN The same person, posting the same (reworded slightly) question, based on the same FLAWED information. Global temperatures have been down over the last few years because of the influence of La Nina. That is WEATHER, not CLIMATE CHANGE. If you look at other information from the same source, the UK Met Offices Hadley Centre, they explain this, but deniers then claim that it is all lies being put out to gain funding. See the link posted by icarus They can't have it both ways, if the FACTUAL explanations about the effects of El Nino & La Nina are lies then so are the graphs on the link supplied by the "denier in chief".

Why care about global warming? Yes it's real! But we will be dead when it really hits home, and who cares about our kids. They can care for themselves!

Profit making and consumerism is more important than environment. We want money and "things" and we want it now! We don't want to pay for consequences of our careless behaviour. Let future generations look after cleaning up the mess we leave behind.

Do you really think that we are NOT the contributing deciding factor in global warming? Wake up!

Good to know there are a few people out here that "get it". What I find ironic is that one volcano could do more damage than all of mankind's "contribution" to the ozone depletion in the last 100 years. So what are the global warming enthusiast going to about them?

Well stated. I agree with you completely. You must be of the (little bit) older generation to realize this (and no insult intended) or a very intelligent younger person. lol
