I have a husband in jail for 2 months and he has been in and out of jail severa times in the last few years. I feel like I have put up with it long enough. he won't get a job when he isn't in jail to help take care of the family he says he loves and cares about. What would you do?

Personally, I'd divorce him! He obviously won't help you by working, what good is he to you? You don't say what he is in jail for or for how long he is going to incarcerated for, that can also be a factor in your decision to wait or not.

I'm just taking a guess here but I'll bet he asks you for money, doesn't he? I use to work in a prison and I saw them all do it. What ever you do don't send him money, you have your self and your children to worry about. He obviously put him self into the bucket, let him figure out for him self how to take care of his own needs.

I'm so sorry that he's not trying to at least help you and your children with the money situation. You certainly got a raw deal and so did your children. Check out some public assistance places so that your children and you won't have to be so afraid, there is help out there for you. You just need to ask for the help.

I will pray for your children and you, God Bless you!

I can't believe women are so defensive of the guy in jail. Maybe that's why you are still married to him. You probably deserve someone that's responsible, honest and hardworking. Trust me, I have a friend who finally divorced her husband 2 years ago after 10 years of trying to figure out what to do. The unfortunate thing is her kids are now 19, 16 and 14 and she had to support all of them by herself. PS. her ex has been in jail for the past 6 months but still tries to call her collect 10 times a day.

He is not forcing you into this divorce... You are the one chosing to do it. If you need to divorce then file but i dont feel he is forcing you to do this. You need to get a job since he is not working and since he is in jail how can he get a job anyways? Even if he does get a job it wont pay much because he is a convict. You have more of a chance of getting a much better paying job.

Jail is a choice,
No job is a choice,

8-years of this was a bad choice on your part.

You should:

(1) dump him
(2) get a couple of jobs to pay the bills
(3) keep your legs closed

How can he work if he's in jail? When he gets out he will have very limited options as to where he can work because of his background. You have two choices. Either stay with him and you support the family or divorce him and support your family. The bottom line here is YOU need to grab the reins and take control of your family and support them.
