Be sure to have a few drafts before sending it on. And if you don't want anybody to rip it off then I suggest that you have the draft you turn in copyrighted.

Okay I dont mean this to be offensive, so please dont take any, but seriously, if you're interested in movies, what the heck are you doing asking questions on yahoo answers? I first got interested in movies 2 years ago, not into screenwriting, but into directing. At that time, I thought, "Getting into the movie industry is impossible." But you know what I did? I started reading as much as I could about filmmaking. And pretty soon, I realized, it wasnt easy, but it surely wasnt impossible. So basically what I'm trying to say is, don't wait for other people to answer your questions, find the answers yourself. Or at the very least, dont ask on yahoo answers. I go to studentfilmmakers.com all the time. They have a screenwriting forum (which is what I usually go there for, ironically). Also, blue cat is sponsoring a screenplay competition which you could enter as well (www.bluecatscreenplay.com). Basically, once you join the forum, you'll find numerous links to other sites and contests. And maybe it wont get you to hollywood, but at least it'll get your foot in the door. Hope this helps!

1. Don't put the cart before the horse-learn the cratf. How you say? By reading up on everything and anything you can about screenwriting. Libraries, bookstores and the internet have tons of info.

2. Most studios will not accept unsolicited work..meaning if you don't have an agent or lawyer or some 'in' your work will not be seen.

3. if you are in it just for money---you will be sadly dissapointed

4. The real money makers are the producers...

You've already gotten good answers -- screenwriting is not about money. If you aren't passionate about it, you're better off working a Slurpee machine.
