VIENNA, Austria - Technicians have assembled two small uranium enrichment units at Iran's underground Natanz complex, diplomats and officials said Monday. The move underscored Tehran's defiance of a U.N. Security Council ban on the program, which can be used to create nuclear arms.

The UN is like welfare - great idea, but poorly implemented. The UN has turned into a huge joke - what, exactly, have they done?

Iraq - 12 years and 17 failed resoltions
Africa - UN Peacekeeping forces are raping little girls. Nice.
Rwanda - Where was the UN for the genocide in Rwanda?
Darfur - Where is the UN? Another genocide.

Do I need to continue?

I'm not a liberal, been called a liberal meat head before, but no I'm not a liberal and I don't see why this question is just targeted to liberals? Anyway...... no I don't believe in the present day UN.

I think when they first got started they had wonderful intentions and a great theology, however they lack the back bone to support it.

Back in the 80's when Sudam was chemically bombing the Kurds, Iran (above all nations) went tattle tailing to the UN, and they UN said they didn't have time to deal with the Kurdish massacre right now!

Many other failures all over Africa, Western Europe, and parts of Aisa, esp. when dealing with infractions on human rights.

The U.N. is now a joke, Pres. Bush knew it, that's why he barreled through them despite their protest, and he got his way despite the upset.

They need to find their back bone and use it!

What started as a noble idea has degenerated into a third world chamber of anti-semites with thier hands out for US money who have thier own agendas in mind rather than what is good for mankind. Please move the UN headquarters to Zimbabwi where its members would feel more at home

I don't need to believe in it, I know it exists.

The United States is what castrated the UN, so it couldn't act against us.

There are resolution against the US and Israel right now, so the US will never allow the UN the power it needs to "right the ship" because we don't want them in our affairs.

So when people complain about the UN being weak, I think they forget that the US wants it that way.

I believe in the UN in principle, but if has got to do more than just sned letters and inspectors everrywhere. Enough of these peacekeeping forces. Let's recruit heavily for the UN's military arm, and call them "PeaceMaking" forces.

I'm quite liberal, by the way, but I'm a liberal who allows for a military solution.
