I think it's because you get a variety of weather. Like you have snow and then you also have 80 degree weather. On the west coast, you don't get as much variety it's mainly the same day after day, year after year and it can get kind of boring for some people.

The amount of, quality of, and the compactness of the east coast over the west coast makes people enjoy the right coast more.

Could be because of the big "earthquake" reputation the West Coast has. I live near San Francisco, CA, and believe me, it's not what people make it out to be.

Simply because more people live there. I doubt if you would find many San Franers or Seattlites or Portlanders (OR) or San Diegans who would admit to prefering the East Coast (well, maybe some Portlanders might enjoy Portland, ME just as much).

Heck some of us prefer the Gulf Coast.
we can walk on our water make the Charles look like drinking water.
we have two season here - Hot , Humid .
of course we don't have to pay over 250,000$
for 1100 sq ft of house. it runs around 125-150,000$ new with yards.

One of the reasons may be because of the ocean... yes there's the pacific ocean but you'd mostly have to live in California to be by it... which is a state with high crime rates.
