the toy company who mass marketed Strawberry Shortcake under the original Matel/Hasbro company went into marketing in 1978 with the first dolls rolling off the assembly line in early to mid 1979

After a hiatus the toy line was brought back in 1999 and dissappeared again slightly after 2000 and resurfaced in 2003 when the scent lasting capabilities were perfected that was always the problem with the line much like Scratch and Sniff stickers of the 1980's

Through modern chemical extract advances the dolls scents were perfected to have a shelflife of 5-7 years at best before they start to stop smelling so sweet

i think she came out in the early 80's. I always had strawberry shortcake stuff when I was a kid.

29 YEARS AGO,THEY STARTED MANUFACTURING THEM, 28 YEARS AGO, THEY WERE SOLD IN STORES-1978-1979. HOPE THAT HELPS.
