Spot of tea dear? Me and friends will say that to each other in our crappy impressions of a Brit accent 3-4 times a week.
LOL...I always thought you all drank tea all day long to.
As a whole, you all seem very prim and proper. A very peaceful civilization. Racism doesn't seem as prevalent in your culture. Well spoken, and cute accents..Though to be honest, you all sound very soft. Me and my friends were laughing the other day because we were comparing the American tuff guy to the British tuff guy. Not that you all are not packin, you just say things so politely they hardly come off as offensive.
As for your military, it is one of the best in the world. You all are some of the best trained on earth, and I thank my lucky stars each day your gov. is our allie. :o)
As for your gov. and politics, I'll have to be honest and say I am not educated enough on it to criticize. At first glance it seems to be working well for you all, though I am sure there are corrupt activities associated with each government.
You all seem very calculated and well thought out...On a whole I love the Brits...what would me and my silly friends do if we didn't have you all to pathetically try and impersonate...and usually fail..Oh we are god awful. LOL

We aren't prim and proper. That's a myth as sold by the media. We have a free Dental Service on the NHS so most people have good teeth as it costs next to nothing for the pleasure. The teeth thing was an invention from American movies, yet another stereotype. There are far more poor people than "prim and proper people" in Britain. Most people aren't well spoken- most people are working class and lower middle class, it's just how we are depicted in the movies- posh and snobby and well spoken. There are several regional accents in England alone. Nobody I know eats crumpets, that's something from the long gone past. Most of the stereotypes are the nonsense you see in movies like "Four Weddings And A Funeral" etc. All the usual rubbish isn't true. No-one cares about the Royal Family except the upper classes and they don't mix with us ordinary people etc etc. We do drink a lot of tea and that's as far as it goes. Everyone who comes to visit is usually quite disappointed I've found. The Hollywood version of events is a load of rubbish and they're shocked when they find that out.

I really haven't thought about the things you mentioned (although I don't think those things are necessarily bad, expect for the snobby part). I've mixed feelings about the English. Some positive and some negative (like americans, ha). I am aware that some of my ancestors came from there. I had an uncle who wrote poetry. He translated Genesis and Acts into poetry form and wrote other poetry. I only saw him once but expressed surprise that someone in our family would have that talent. He said that we came by it honestly because Shakespeare was an ancestor. Another relative supposedly traced our ancestry back to Middlesex, England mid 1500, I think. I have a little tea pot from Stratford-On-Avon. But back to the point....The history of the English is fascinating if not always noble. I really hate how ignoble Diana was treated and I loath Madonna!

I think most of don't understand your humor. In my senior English class, we were watching something from a British comedy....it was really odd (no offense).
I think a lot of people may view the British as very proper and even sophisticated. Though, not all are like that....it's just a stereotype. Almost every one I know loves the English accent....the accent from those around London I guess, because I know you have regional accents just like the U.S. does.
If you think that we think bad of you, we do not....most of us don't anyway.
Edit: I have never been to Britain, but have met Englishmen while in other European countries and in my own (I work at a hotel after school...there is a man from England that stays there for business a lot).

That is like 6000 miles away and beyond the curvature so NO view from here for me. As for stereotypes I can't make a statement because I don't know any Brits.

Kind of hung up on royalty, have some interesting accents, are
fantastic allies and support. Just kinda some European relatives..
after all, the majority of Americans have roots in Europe ---
lots of us are "partly" English (part of parts of Greater Britain)

tea and crumpets anyone...
sorry had to.
I personally think of Britian as a very cold and grey place.
I just the weather wasn't the best. But much like america, I hold my views on the british PEOPLE apart from the british government.
the people, They are like abnyone else. Holds their own sterio types, has their fare share of idiots. And their fare share of intellegance. I think like a lot of British views on americans, Our views are programmed by the media. So I try and stay Nuteral.
The government.
I think the gopvernment is STILL on a power trip. Trying to colonize the world ( although american is doing the same thing)
I just have one request for the government
GET THE HELL OUTTA IRELAND!!
On that note, to all british people,
Your fine lads, and lasses
No I have not been there, that's why I have no preconcieved notions about the people.
But I have been very active with my father, in teh freedom of northern ireland. I have done countless reports, friends witgh a few northern irish. I have not been sheltered on how the Norhtern Ireland is being occupied.
