I worked for Waste Management for several months. This was in Canada, but it would be relatively close.
First, they SUCK to work for, as a driver must account for every single minute and mile of there entire day. I didn't have a problem with this because of 'slacking off', but because you would spend as much time completing paperwork as you would driving, which was just stupid. Secondly, they were all about safety....on paper....but in reality if there was a problem with a truck, if it wasn't enough to make the truck inoperable, then it would get ignored for as long as possible. This is how it was in the region I worked in, I don't know if they were like this in all regions, but I suspect they are.
Anyways, as a new driver with this company you can expect to make about $15 - $17/hr(Canadian).
If you are driving a front-loader, you can expect to work about 10-12 hrs./day, starting around 4 a.m and ending when you get done your route, so they make pretty good money.
A roll-off driver might get 30 - 35 hrs./week, so they aren't gettin' rich from this job.
Hope this info helps.

I have a friend who drives for Waste Management in FL. He started at $9/hr. Wage will vary greatly based on what part of the country you are in.
