I had an ultrasound today to check on some spotting I had yesterday. I am 8 weeks and 2 days along and the baby measured 8 weeks and 3 days with a heartbeat of 179. Everything I'm reading online says a normal heart rate is 140 - 170. I'm nervous that this means something is wrong. Anyone had an ultrasound and their babies heartbeat was this high?

Honey, if there was a problem, they would not have let you out of the hospital where you had your ultrasound without telling you of the problem.

Stop scaring yourself, you don't need the stress!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

140-170 is average. One time I had 174 at an appointment. If anything is wrong, your doctor will tell you after they review the ultrasound. But true not to worry, I'm sure evyerhting is fine! =)

Your baby is fine. Its heartbeat will slow down a little as the baby gets bigger. Amazing something that little can go that fast. Is this your first?? It seems like it. Or you are just a typical mommy and worried about everything. Good luck!!!!

When I was 9 weeks my babie's heart beat was 180 and everything was fine. It dropped to 150 when I was 17 weeks and at 21 weeks it was at 160. I wouldn't worry about it - if there was something to worry about your doctor would let you know.

perfectly fine! My baby's heartrate was 176 @ 9 weeks. I also was worried! I went for another ultrasound at week 19, and his heartrate was 161. Good luck and I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

I believe babies that have a higher rate at times just mean that they are being active inside you, they are not always that high, the baby might just be active at the times they are checking the heart rate
