hello ofcourse you can download without using firefox.
Just search in google the name of the software "you tube downloader" it is a good software to download.
Or else go the website www.youtubex.com from there you can directly download without any installation software.

Easy .. View the link in Mozilla Firefox .. ( Before that download and install the Addon for Firefox named 'VideoDownloader')
When the streaming is compelete then cick on the Videodownloader software in right hand bottom corner ..and say download link ... Then view the downloaded video with 'VLC Player' Enjoy !

Why do it the hard way?
