I didn't. I allowed myself to be swept along by the tides of fate. This was not good.
Now I know it would have been better if I would have had a plan for my life and tried to exert some authority over my destiny.
This is a good question.

when i stopped trying to figure it out it just sort of happened. If you dont already know exactly what yu want to do i would suggest trying a variety of things until you find something that you are good at and that you can see yourself doing every day. Unfortunately its not always the exciting and glamorous things we see ourselves doing when we are children that end up paying the bills but if we are good at what we do then we will be successful.
I started working for my dad right after high school and never ever wanted to be an engineer but found that i was really good at the business aspect of it and liked dealing with the people. I learned a lot about the industry while i worked there but made sure to try a few more jobs to see what i enjoyed most, i liked being an office manager and was pretty good at it so i decided to start my own business getting permits for engineers and contractors. Now i get to work from home!

Well let's put it this way hun, u never really trully know unless u try a lot of different things! But one thing is for sure, u just look at what u like best in your life and what makes u feel good and then see what career u could do with that!
If u love painting u could look into arts!
maybe u love shopping? well how about becoming a fashion consultant?
Math is your thing? defenitly science!
Maybe u love helping people? how about nursing?

but always think also of how much schooling is involved here, if u love helping people and taking care of them u could become a doctor but if u r not very good at school or don,t like it much maybe u should aim for something easier like a nurse!

I never decided, it just happened. In high school I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do, so I just took business classes, took the same in college too. Then I just ended up getting a job where my dad works b/c he told me about the opening. I'm an office coordinator, so it goes w/ my education anyway and I love what I do.

I just sort of thought about my strengths, talents and what I enjoy doing, and that's how I decided what I wanted to do career-wise. In my personal/family life, it just sort of happened. But I do truly believe that 18 is way too young for kids to decide on a major/career for the rest of their lives.

you decide in every moment, not up front.
you only have to decide what to do today.
not for the rest of your life. what i want to do with my life keeps changing. at one time i wanted to be a mom. dedicated my life to raising kids. for a long time. they are grown now and i am doing something else that now feels important to me.
do what feels important to you in the moment.
don't worry about the rest of your life, just right now.

It's all to do with interest, if you feel a burning desire when you think about a certain job or you find you have a real interest then run with that and stick to it most likely thats what you want to do....good luck.

I haven't really decided as yet. Put a lot of thought into it.
