Shouldn't be long. Maybe another day or two. Could be up to a week. But if it's longer than that you need to take her to the doctor. Make sure you keep her hydrated with water and juice and pedialyte. And once she gets better, get some yogurt with active cultures in to her, it to help replace the good bacteria in her stomach.

The best treatment for the flu is bed rest, plenty of fluids, and as much nutritious food as your toddler can handle. Try offering frozen fruit bars to encourage her to get extra liquids — along with soup or broth, which may ease his congestion as well.

For muscle aches and fever, give your child a pain reliever such as children's acetaminophen or ibuprofen. (Never give a child aspirin unless your doctor has recommended it, especially if he has a viral infection. It can trigger Reye's syndrome, a rare but life-threatening condition.)

If your toddler is at high risk for complications because of an underlying medical condition, her doctor may be able to prescribe an antiviral medication that can help ease the symptoms and shorten the duration of the flu by a day or two. The trick is in making the diagnosis as soon as possible, though, because the medication must be given in the first 48 hours. Once that 48-hour window closes, the antiviral medications are no longer effective.

Resist the urge to pressure your doctor for antibiotics, which kill only bacteria. A virus, not bacteria, causes the flu, so antibiotics won't work. In some cases, however, if your toddler develops a secondary bacterial infection, such as pneumonia, an ear infection, or bronchitis, as a result of having the flu, antibiotics may be in order.

Your toddler should start feeling better in three to five days. You'll notice her fever break first and then his appetite should return. But this is just an average — some children (and adults) have a cough and associated body aches that hang on for two weeks or more.

I just read a bunch of stuff in a medical book b/c my 10 month old had a cold. Yours needs to go to the doctor/hospital since she's vomiting and has the flu. You don't want to make a fatal mistake by not seeking a doctor's help. I hope she gets better soon...poor thing.

viruses have a 10 day cycle in most cases, but the flu is an exception since it depleats the system so greatly.

aside from a vaccine to help shorten the life and effects of the virus, fluids, rest, and medicating her fever (alternate tylenol and advil {ibuprophin}) will do the most good.

It could be a couple weeks before she's back to her regular self.

A very young child can die from any number of things but dehydration is a big worry. You must get the child to the ER or at least call your pediatrician and I know she'll want to see her or tell you to go to the ER.

That's too many days for a baby to be vomiting and not eating.
Take her to ER, she probably has gastrointestinal infection caused by eating something bad. She might need IV to restore her fluids.
