I think then my son was only occasionally finishing 3 ounces at a feeding, but he has always been small for his age, and ate many small meals instead of a few large ones.
Babies won't overeat. They know when their belly is full and will stop drinking. They don't feel like we do, that they have to clean their plate. So if he or she is happily drinking the 5 ounces and not spitting up a lot of it, then I'd say it's fine. If he or she is spitting most of it back up, I'd start with 3 ounces and then burp, and if he still wants more, then I'd do another ounce and burp, and then another ounce and burp.
If she's gaining too much weight or something, the pediatriction will be able to tell you what to do at the two month check up that you should be having in another week or so.
Good luck and congratulations!

A baby at this age should gain about 1 ounce per day, about a pound every 2 weeks. As long as the baby is not spitting up excessively or crying/uncomfortable after feeding s/he is most likely eating the right amount.

Congrats on your new baby! You are probably going back to the doctors at 8 weeks, right? You should talk to your pediatrician about your concerns. But, 5 ounces sounds normal. It might be a tad too much, but it depends on the weight of your baby. Youalso will probably know if you are overfeeding your baby because the baby will spit up excessively after a feeding and also get fussy at the bottle. Babies usually do not eat more than they can handle.

No that very normal amount to feed a baby at this age. I think that my son was the same age and was eating about 6 ounces at this age.

It's not too much if she/he eats it. If he/she leaves some left over then cut back so you are not wasting any. I would start with 3 ounces and add more if baby is still hungry.

My 10 week old is having 5 oz 5-6 times per day. But they say a baby won't overeat, they'll refuse it if they aren't hungry.

Every child is different, but that sounds like a good amount, your baby normally knows exactly how much they want and need.

I dont use formula, but that does sound like quite a bit. But i would never limit him as long as he is happy and wants that much.
