Girls seem to gain more GCSE 'O' and 'A' levels. But there are different ways of measuring intelligence. Our brains seem to have been created with different functions with women being better able to multi-task. Men focus better on one given subject at a time.

I suspect that they are equal, however, I think women and men tend to have different cognitive styles. That being said, as someone who works in education, I find that girls consistently out perform their male peers academically, but I think this may cultural rather than males having a lower IQ.
