I am 38 weeks along and for about a week now I have been waking up in the morning with numb and slightly swollen hands. They are actually pretty achey all day. I do have mild gestational diabetes but I am taking care of it carefully with my diet. Maybe this is related...does anyone have any suggestions for RELIEF??

I don't have any relief suggestions for you but i did have the same problem it even lasted a few weeks after the baby too. But it does go away i think it's just swelling try drinking more fluids and lay on your left side as much as possible.

I had it with my last pregnancy. My arms would go numb also. I had gestational diabetes, also controlled with diet. I don't think it had anything to do with that though. My sister developed carpal tunnel syndrome when she was pregnant. I'm not sure if it's that either, but mine went away after my pregnancy. In addition to swollen hands, I had swollen ankles and feet as well. My doctor reassured me that it would go away after pregnancy. He just forgot to tell me it takes about 1-2 weeks after delivery for the swelling to go away. Best wishes for a healthy baby!!

OH yes. That was me all the way. It was so wierd. My hands would fall asleep eating dinner. Odd. My doc said it was a sighn in carpal tunnell and a lot of pregnant woman get it. I had my son in October and I have never had it again. The diabetes really have nothing to do with it. It will pass. Good luck and congrats.

i have the same thing... but mine is not just in my hands, its in my wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, anckles and toes.... it hurts so bad like the bones are poping out of place right? if it is the same thing, then i dont know what to tell ya, i have been haveing it for the last 2 or 3 weeks now and i cant find ANYTHING to make it feel better. im just trying to wait it out because i dont have much longer, and i heard alot of the aches and pains go away after the baby is born. so im hopeing for that. good luck... maybe try putting warm wash clothes on your hands? i havent tryed that, maybe i should, it just sounds relaxing atm. lol

If you sleep on you back it can press on your spine. If that's not the problem , then wait til baby comes. GOD BLESS
