What have we here, a wise frog!

ok but...we can also compare good-better-best. So, why still bad in the equation?

No... it doesnt have to get really bad. But it does have to have a state of being bad in order to compare it to something being good. The statement - it has to get worse before it gets any better only applies to the 'better' state and where it rates on a scale of being good or bad. For example - If everything was always gone the way you wanted it to go - It would have to get worse before it got any better. Otherwise... how would you know that it was better than the last? You need a comparison in order to differentiate what is good and what is bad.

The closest you can come to this being a true statement is if you are talking only about human nature. And not even then.

Consider: If you're climbing a hill, do you have to first walk down the hill before you can walk up? Or if you're writing a paper, do you first have to not be able to write it before you can? I would think it is almost patently obvious that just about every problem has a most perfect solution and that very few of the solutions require some kind of bleak appearance before success arises.

On the other hand, many people are slow to change. They are limited by their fears and their perceptions. And so for some, it IS necessary that they reach a point where they have nothing left to lose before they can gather themselves and do what needs to be done.

Part of the experience of being a parent is watching over someone who is absolutely going to make many mistakes no matter how many warnings you give, simply because children cannot foresee, plan, and control themselves like an adult can. You KNOW that there is going to be trouble, but sometimes you even allow the trouble to occur with the hope that the child will learn something and be bettered for it.

So, does it HAVE to get bad before it gets better? I'd say no. Does it often do so? Absolutely.

No it doesn't hun!

It all depends on the way u look at life! Even during bad times, if u take the time to look at your day u will see that there is always something there to make u laugh, smile or just feel happy..it could be a joke a friend told u, the way u felt while riding your bike, the beautifull sunset, the great conversation u had with a friend or the smile the cute girl gave u!

At the end of your day take the time to reflect on what happened during that day and write down all the good stuff! don't say they weren't any hun! There is always something that made u feel good (even a c+ when u expected a d- on that test!). Just that sometimes the good things are harder to see when something bad happened or that u r feeling down...so good way to see them is to write it down!
And always remember that after the rain there is always a rainbow!

I'm still in the first half (the really bad part). I can only hope that I can only go up from here.

Yes, I've experienced (I am experiencing) it. It's really bad right now, but soon it will get better, so much better, perfect.
