simply look at primitive cultures in existance today - they use items for barter (pigs, cows, women, etc). Over time they seem to come to an agreement as to what things are worth for trade (ie how many pigs = 1 woman, etc). Sad but true. Conversely, they develop their own sort of money - polynesian cultures used shells and others used rare rocks or gems for trade. End of answer - this is now just a side story I read about - Back in the post-Columbus days, one culture had to make a long and arduous trip to a remote island to mine and collect these certain rocks. they had to drill a hole in the center and make a donut. Apparently the more you had and the larger the size, the more they were worth. They were very difficult to get. so over time they established a social hierarchy based on who had the most/biggest stones. Everyone was apparently happy until the explorers found the culture. They said, hey we have big boats and strong tools so we will take you to that remote island and you can mine all you want. So the islanders jumped on the ships and made lots of stones very quickly. Well since the whole point was really to show your strength and bravery and qualifications for leadership not actual money value, once everyone had a bunch of the stones they lost their value and significance. So that ended that culture's social and monetary system. Perhaps a knowlegeable reader can direct us to the specific culture that had this problem?

Hello,

(ANS) Money itself is a human construct (humans invented it) & only humans use money. If money suddenly disappeared in the wink of any eye, humans would re-invent it all over again I'm totally sure of that.

**Philosophically speaking theres No! such thing as money, theres just little bits of metal, bits of paper and now electronic bits that flow down wires (just electrons actually).

**Money is just the way human being's exchange energy between each other.

**You could call money "spondoolix" if you liked and it would still be valid in my opinion. What something is called isnt that important, only that people recognise it and use it. And therefore give spondoolix a value. Its only that we have all agreed that there are 100p in a £1 nothing more. The value of money itself is relative anyway, you only have to look at the international money markets too see that's true.

We'd all be on equal levels and much happier. No one would try to out do anyone else because there would be equal access to everything, there would be no need for stealing so our prison systems wouldn't be so crowded. I see so many pluses to this but I'm sure there's a downside as well, I just don't know what that is.
