I just get really nauseated until I eat a peice of bread or cheese for example. Like a few minutes ago I ate a pop tart, and I got very sick with in just a few minutes of eating it. Could that mean anything? I was just curious.

I had morning sickness all through 9 months of my pregnancy and I also had similar experience after eating something that was more sugary. One of the causes of nausea during pregnancy is due to low blood sugar (that's why eating bread and crackers helps because it provides some carbs but they are plain-tasting). What makes the nausea worse after eating very sugary foods is because due to the sudden drop in your blood sugar levels ("sugar-crash") after the initial sugar-spike. Do your best in maintaining a relatively stable level of blood sugar by snacking on plain foods like crackers/bread, and foods rich in protein (like cheese, which you are doing). Don't go for too long without food in your stomach.

(So when you go in for your gestational diabetes test, be prepared for severe nausea after you drink the sugar solution that they give you before your test. I felt awful as my blood sugar level was dropping during the test. Just be warned.)

If you still find little relief, try sipping on lemonade (Newman's Own Lemonade was more natural with less added sugar), or anything citrusy. Of course don't gulp it down because then you run the risk of getting a sugar crash. You might want to dilute it if you'd like. Ginger products can help, but watch out for some gingerales that only has very little ginger but plenty of sugar. Some asian markets sell ginger candies which are mostly made of natural ginger without too much sugar, which can help.

Ultimately what helped me the most was taking 1/2 a pill of Unisom-2 (doxylamine), NOT the Unisom SleepGels. This was recommended by my ob/gyn doctor and also my own research online. Some people find taking the doxylamine and vitamin B6 helps more, or even B6 alone. Try different combinations to see which one works best for you. Of course you should check with your doctor before taking any OTC meds during pregnancy. Hopefully your nausea will go away soon, so you won't need any meds at all.

Be sure to rest whenever you can. Moving around can also aggravate nausea because the part of the brain that is responsible for sensing motion sickness turns out to be the same center that is associated with morning sickness. Sorry this is not exactly related to your questions about sugar, but knowing this might also help with your nausea. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Perhaps pregnancy induced diabetes? My aunt had it each time she was pregnant. Otherwise she has no signs of diabetes at all! It could also be just a quirk. From my own experience... pregnancy makes your tummy look, feel, act strange LOL If your symptoms get worse I would definitely call your doctor, although I'm thinking if it were diabetes your doctor would of figured that out already but its never a bad idea to be cautious!!!

Definately. This is usually a sign of gestational diabetes. My friend experienced this and went in to the doctor and found out that she did indeed have gestational diabetes. Make an appointment with your doctor and have him test for this. Good luck:)

It could mean something, it could mean nothing. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor about it. Many pregnant women develop food aversions. For example, I can't eat any meat of any kind without throwing up.

You are pregnant , anything is possible, I would avoid those types of foods and maybe just stick with clear liquids like broth, jello, ginger ale, all these are very affective. Best of luck and I hope that you feel better soon.

i would guess diabetes, but if its not that, it could just be normal pregnancy cravings/disgusts. try eating real fruit. that will give you the sugar your body needs, in a form it can accept.

it's morning sickness. different foods are yucky to different people. don't worry about it, just don't eat the foods that make you sick.
