Well I'm deciding my A-Level options for next year, so far I'm decided on French, Maths and History. I'm now wondering whether I should choose psychology or economics.

From first impressions, Psychology seems like it would be more 'fun', however Economics seems like it would be more use in my future, in general. I can't see what use psychology would have in my future, as I'm not doing any other sciences. Can anybody think why it would be useful?
So basically I want to kow your opinions on which would be a better choice, while taking into account:
Psychology looking more interesting,
Economics seeming more useful,
Compatibility with my other subjects,
Which one is higher regarded by universities,
I'm already good at business studies, which is related but not the same as economics and I've never done psychology before.

Oh and by the way, I don't really know what I want to do in the future, maybe languages.

I'm rambling quite a bit aren't I >_<

Psychology is useful in every day life. It teaches you through deductive reasoning how to thoroughly analyze people and their behaviours. Having the skills and knowledge thaught from psychology will enhance your personal relationships and view on the world. However, since you are only taking entry level courses both the psych and the econ class are going to be very broad and general in the knowledge you will gain. I am a psych major with an entreprenuership minor so I have taken both. Neither of them go too deep into anything. Psychology is definitely a more interresting and fun class out of the two. Economics is very dry. Chances are you won't really remember too much from either if they are just general classes so take the one you think would be most fun and you'll get the highest grade in.

Nowadays you can do AS Levels in your first year of A-Levels.

I'd personally recommend Economics for all the reasons stated above. But then again you could only do Economics at AS-Level and drop out because you hate it and switch to Psychology, or vice versa.

If you're planning on doing something language-related later on and are god at business, Psychology seems as though it would be rather useful for Organisational Behaviour. (Part of my International Business Studies course).

If you do go to uni, I'd chose a degree combining languages and business.

Sorry if my post is a little incoherent, BTW.

Best of luck!

I took A-level psychology It taught me a lot about exam technique which was very useful later on in my education. Rather depressingly whilst studying for my degree A lecturer told us that it didn't matter what your degree was in, all potential employers were bothered about was its class and where it was from, much less which A-levels you took! If you are not sure what you want to do in the future I would choose on the basis of which you will most enjoy and which you will achieve the best grade in.
