A famous person once said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology looks like magic." It all depends on what you consider magical. For instance, is doing with your mind what others would normally do with their bodies, magical? Most people think so. If you could wash your laundry simply by thinking about it, most people would say, "That's magic!" And then there are people who may say, "Oh. He probably has a computer chip in his head wirelessly connected to the washing machine." I define magic as the occurence of an event that human beings cannot explain, in their current state of knowledge. To me, therefore, magic is not so much an ability as a fact. Are there people who can make use of magic? Undoubtedly. Do they know how they did it? Probably not.

Werewolves and vampires are much easier. Yes, they certainly do exist. In fact, there are more "magical" animals than werewolves. "Were" simply means "transform". A werewolf is a person who can transform into a wolf. In the original sense, it meant a spiritual as well as a physical transformation. Hence, people who could transform would not transform very often (usually anywhere from once a month to once a year, but not every day or even every week). And, mostly, they did not retain the transformed body more than a half day (usually sunset to sunrise, but sometimes the other way). Obviously, if you can learn to transform into a wolf, you can learn to transform into other animals or even birds.

Vampires are a different matter. Hollywood usually has blood-sucking vampires. However, if you do the math, it is impossible, the way Hollywood portrays it. The size of the tooth, the amount of time involved, and the necessary suction-power simply do not compute. Think of it this way: Even with the cooperation of the person and decent medical equipment, it takes about 45 minutes to get a single unit of blood (a pint) from a person. And the person isn't dead, at the end of it. So, the Hollywood vampire makes no sense. But there are, in fact, creatures who live off other creatures, without drinking their blood or harming them in any way. For example, jackals eat meat left over by other animals. Certain types of fungus can only grow under certain types of trees. So, that leaves us with the idea of EVIL vampires. Yes, there are a few creatures who kill (and/or drain the energy of others) simply for pleasure or because of some insane belief. Elizabeth Bathory, for instance, killed and drank the blood of virgins because she felt she would not grow old and ugly if she did. Hitler killed millions of people because he thought he was cleansing the world. There are such insane and evil people, of course.

By and large, however, the idea behind creating "magical" creatures is to warn against or to encourage certain types of behaviour. Unicorns are pure and have healing powers. So do certain types of dragons. Fairies are pretty and gentle. So are angels. So, yes, they all do exist -- both, as independent creatures and as forces for good and evil, in each and every person and thing that has existed, does exist, and will ever exist.

I really believe that it is possible. Of course, not Hollywood's version, but something very similar. Vampires would need blood to survive, but not every night. A popular belief is that Vampires don't need to drink all of a person's blood to survive. Also, there could be special ingredients in a Vampire's saliva that allows the wound to heal, or to help the flow of blood. And perhaps Vampires aren't really immortal, but just have a longer lifespan.

The term magic sounds a bit dramatic, but it could just end up being a part of a human being's brain that isn't normally accessed.

Werewolves could just be the result of abnormal DNA. I also believe that there are other forms of Lyncanthropy.

People didn't really know about Gorillas for a long time, but now everybody knows about Gorillas. Also, back in the Medieval ages, if you had just walked up to someone and said that you saw a creature bigger that fifty men, with two sharp horns and a great big nose, they would of called you crazy. Nowadays they call such a creature an Elephant.

I also believe in Dragons. Practically every culture has their own version of the Dragon. All of these cultures had no way of contacting each other, yet they all have their own version of the Dragon. After all, couldn't a Dragon just be a different type of dinosaur that survived a bit longer than the others?

I'm not a Goth, but that wont stop me from throwing in an answer.
I like magic. Not so much card tricks, as the rabbit-out-of-the hat illusions.
Vampires are a type of aircraft, flown by the Royal Air Force(Britain), in the sixties (Might have been the Fifties, not that good with dates...).
And werewolves? Well, I was a disbeliever, until I visited the Lycanthropy Research Institute in Berne, Switzerland, where they showed me how I too could find my inner wolf.

I thought you deserved one moderately well thought out completely silly answer.

Well I must say yes... In terms of my personal beliefs, regarding the universal law of energy, that is all things, I realise that the level {or dimension} in which we reside is but a connecting thread into various other realms or vibrations of being that we may or may not be able to comprehend with our "5" senses. So I do beleive in the interplay of energies that occur all around us on subtle levels. {and that we have the power to manipulate energy from our basic natural "gifts", that being thought and esp. FEELING! Some call this "magic." Well blessed be x3 and it WILL be blessed! In terms of manifestations and alike, I have heard of things called Dracos' and a close friend who witnessed "short lizard-like creatures" floating through his wall. Anyway, I suppose it all comes down to what you believe and the very defintion of that belief. Intuition is the best tool for truth!
Blessed be.

1. Not all goths and gothic people believe in that.
2. There are plenty of other types of people who do believe.
3. I'm somewhat goth and I really do. Of course, I don't believe in the type you see on television, but they do exist.
