I recently gave birth to a still born baby at 19 wks. She had trisomy 18, and spinal bifada. My question is, has anyone out there had a trisomy baby and if so didi you have a healthy child after that, and how long did you wait to try again?

I am so sorry for your loss. I had two miscarriage one at 16 weeks. I know how hard this is. I have a friend that had a full term child that also had this. She didn't even know that there was anything wrong until right before she gave birth and the baby only lived a couple of hours. She went on to have a beautiful healthy daughter after this.Make sure you get genitic counciling to have a better chance of a healthy baby next time. Good luck!

I also lost a baby at 19 weeks. (I will never forget the image)
I wasn't taking my prenatal vitamins as directed... But the actual cause of death was that the baby wrapped the cord around it's neck.

This happened in 98, 1 year after the birth of my first child... I had a child in 2000 and again in 04... All healthy!

I have also had a total of 4 miscarriages all of which were threatened abortions (meaning you start bleeding and COULD miscarry - most do)... All of those happened within the first 2 months.

And the weird thing is that between each live birth I miss carried. In fact the baby I lost at 19 weeks should've miss carried if I look at the pattern aspect of it.

I would also wait at least 1 year in between, this gives your uterus time to heal. Also start a daily vita men B4 you get pregnant next time.

I would talk to a genetics specialist before getting pg again. I am sorry for your loss. Folic acid can prevent those conditions sometimes - make sure you take 400 - 800 mcg per day.
