Mothers milk is always the best.especially the first year. you might not be producing enough. you can supplement with formula one feeding per day to let your milk build up. keep taking prenatal vitamins. a balanced died including fruits and vegetables Will help you get back into shape. try to get enough sleep. i know its hard when you have a new baby. CONGRATULATIONS!

Formula is not the way to go. i had 2 nicely chunky little breastfed babies. Are you letting your baby nurse whenever he wants? If you are forcing him onto a schedule he may not be eating enough. Keep in mind that growth charts are generally created around the growth patterns of artificially fed babies. Cow's milk (on which most formula is based, is meant to grow a calf to several hundred pounds in a year.) Your baby needs to grow just a dozen or so pounds, so if he is peeing and pooping regularly, and has unrestricted access to the breast you can be sure he is getting enough to eat.

don't worry about what they say. as long as his pediatrician says he weighs enough. fat does not mean healthy. everyone thinks babys should be fat WRONG!!! BREASTFED BABIES TEND TO WEIGH LESS AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. Just eat a balanced diet with about 300 more calories than usual and you'll be fine. if you find your baby doesn't like ;your milk after you eat certain foods, then dont' eat that food (cabbage, broccoli, etc).
