A cousin of my husband makes her husband sweep, vacumm, and mop because of the old wives tale of miscarriage and stillbirth. My question is how many of you do all of this while your pregnant and your baby came out fine. I can't get my husband to help me with this so I can't let my house get nasty. The other question is what do you think of these names for a girl Danielle Grace or Alysa Grace

I have three children and I have always done house work up until they were born. In fact, you will probably go through a nesting stage right before the baby is born when you'll want to obsessively clean. It's very common. Most women I know have continued cleaning up until they delivered. However, I would also make your husband help. There's no reason he can't scrub a bath tub or help with vacuuming, etc. Unless you have a high risk pregnancy, you shouldn't have any problems. When I was pregnant with my third child, my husband was transferred two weeks before my daughter was born. His company paid for the movers to load and transport everything, but I still packed most of the house and did the final move out cleaning (hubby helped when he wasn't working). You'd be amazed at what you can do. Just don't strain yourself and if you feel too tired or uncomfortable stop and rest. Good luck to you!

I like both names, but I prefer Alyssa Grace.

Alysa Grace is very pretty. As for the housework thing, yes they should help you. But I dont think it will cause miscarriage or stillbirth if you do this stuff when you are pregnant. I had specific orders from my doctor though, no to do an ounce of house work but only because I am having signs of preterm labor and Im basically on bed rest. Im now 33 weeks with my 4th child, and I have never had problems with doing things while I was pregnant before. I used to get out and rake the yard and things and all was fine and baby was fine too.

I think the names are beautiful ^.^

Also I cleaned my house alot (these is also another old wives tale about if you raise your arms above your head during pregnancy that the umbillical cord will get wrapped around the babies neck...but the drs say that it will happen regardless because the baby is moving around alot in there..and that it is perfectly normal and they will "undo" themselves.)

Anyway I vaccumed and cleaned the house and my son came out 8lbs and 7oz...in perfect health and everything. I steered clear of doing things that made me go around bad fumes like cleaning the shower with shower cleaner cause those fumes aren't good for you or your baby... But other things like doing the dishes, sweeping, vaccumming, and laundry ect...I did and my husband or my mom (who lived with us at the time) did the other things that contained to much fumes.

Also I couldn't steam vac my carpets...Because when I would pull back in on the steam vac I would get a sharp pain in my stomach region so after I had did that once..I never did it again and let someone else do it.

You know your own limits and if something hurts don't do it...Also stay away from fumy stuff...like bathroom cleansers, aminioa, and anything else that could knock you out by smell lol. But most of the stuff you can do on your own.

Also tell your husband that carring around his baby takes a strain on your body and that he needs to help you out. Yes, You can do alot of the things on your own but getting help never hurts and being up on your feet while your pregnant is killer on the legs, ankles and feet. So just tell him he has 2 choices.

1. Help you with the house work or
2. Massage your feet everynight because they hurt since you was up on them alot all day lol.

I hope that this has helped you :)

First of all, I like both names.

Second, it is good to keep active during your pregnancy. It's also natural for a women to go through a nesting phase where they want their home to be sterile for the new baby, so they clean and clean and clean. The only thing my OB advised that my husband do is clean the bathroom because of the harsh fumes in bathroom cleaners. Since I have a 19 month old and I'm 9 weeks pregnant again, I really can't wait for my husband to keep my bathroom clean - especially with my toddler taking nightly baths. Target sells a line of cleaners that don't have all the harsh chemicals. As far as getting your hubby to help out with chores, you can start with small things like not doing his laundry so he'll be forced to do it. Your hubby should be helping you. Doing too much can cause added back pain. Best of luck to you.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant with my first and I still do pretty much all the housework. Hubby has started helping out lately, but only because I'm so tired. (I actually prefer to do some of the chores so they get done "my" way - a little anal retentiveness there.) I try to avoid any heavy lifting, but other than that, I still do what I used to. I was even mowing the lawn in my first trimester (I insisted, I always did it before and I wanted to do it then too). That really wore me out though so I gave it up after a couple weeks. As long as your pregnancy is normal and you feel fine, there is nothing wrong with doing the household chores.

As long as there is no other health concerns, housework during pregnancy is not bad for a pregnant mommy whatsoever. As a matter of fact, laying around in bed all day or sitting on the couch can make the delivery harder. (Imagine training for a marathon by sitting on a couch all day)
I have 3 children, ages 3,2 and 8 months and I'm due in July with twins. I clean my house everyday and also care for my 3 little "angels" lol. (I use this term loosely today!)
As for your name question, I like them both, and Danielle Grace slightly more.

I'm 37+ weeks pregnant and have a almost two year old daughter. During both of the pregnancies I have done all of the house chores. It keeps me fit and going. My husband volunteers daily to help but I simply cannot get out of my groove by letting him. I have only gained thirty pounds and know from my midwife and textbooks, that when a pregnant woman stays active during her pregnancy, the woman burns calories and stays "happy", and the baby gets even more amounts of oxygen resulting in a happier healthier baby. Get movin'! Congratulations !!

just like you said its an old wives tale... my doctor told me from day one, that i need to be more active, weather it be walking more, cleaning more etc. as long as i wasnt lifting up heavey stuff. i think thats kind of mean shes makeing him do all these things. but again my doctor said if you are gonna have a miscarriage there really isnt anything you can do to prevent it, just try to stay as healthy as possible... i am a house wife and i ALWAYS do all the stuff around the house (cept just lately because im so close to my due date, my husband feels sorry for me) i have had a perfectly normal pregnancy, no problems at all.

I did all those things during both my pregnancies and had two perfectly healthy children. My husband helped out more at the end of my pregnancies because I would get worn out so much faster (and getting down on my knees to scrub the tub just wasn't going to happen).

I like the names.
