for testing positive for performance enhancing drug?

Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, the NFL's reigning defensive player of the year, said in December that players who fail drug tests shouldn't be allowed to reap any postseason awards.

"You really shouldn't be able to fail a test like that and play in this league, to begin with," Taylor said then. "To make the Pro Bowl and all the other awards, I think you're walking a fine line of sending the wrong message.

The Pro Bowl teams are voted by the fans, so it shows that the fans are either not doing their homework (see Tony Romo) or just vote for a player because he's on their favorite team.
It's become a lot like baseball in this regard.

The four-game suspension was a symbolic gesture, typical of pro sports leagues in general; a PR move. That way nobody can literally say that the league did nothing, and top players can still bring in the crowds and have their jerseys sold to the kids who want to follow in their footsteps. A slap on the wrist, and very cynical quite frankly.

weak.. He should have been canned for the season. He shouldnt win a single award and he should be fined $500,000 for dragging the NFL's name into the mudd with MLB. He should take drug tests every week for 2 year probatiion. I cant beleive the NFL reacted to cowardly, yes they are sending a horrible message.. Big mistake.

why shouldn't he manage to bypass to professional bowl. hes between the proper LB contained in the NFL, isnt that what professional bowl is about to deliver the acceptable. his steroid use wasnt intentional. And to study T.O. to Merriman is a comic book tale, T.O. is self dependent and easily seems out for T.O. Merriman is a good guy, he does alot for his community and else the position. If all you be conscious is a blown out of percentage tale of steroid use, over the abilities and skill this guy brings to the field, you dont have any precise to communicate activities.
