Type the following into your sum cell:

=sum(address of top-left column:address of bottom-right column)

So if you need to sum columns A, B and C for rows 3-7, you type:

=sum(A3:C7)

If your summable values are jagged (not of equal length; not making a perfect rectangular grid), then just do =sum(rowstart:rowend) for each row, and then do the same for your column of totals.

There are a couple of ways:
1. Select the numbers in the column, and total them below each column (in the cell where you want the total, type =sum( then select the block of cells you want to add, then type ) and press enter. Next in the cell where you want the "grand total" do the same, but select the row of column totals.

2. In the cell where you want the grand total, type =sum( then select the entire block to total (all rows and columns), then type ) and press enter. You'll get the total for all of those cells.
