1.) The key to understanding this is the fact that Switzerland essentially grew by welcoming areas that would come into disagreement with their rulers - either from the Hapsburgs in the east, French dukes in the west, or Italian states in the south.

Some of the cantons were originally part of the Holy Roman Empire (which was largely German). Western cantons were tied to duchies that were French in origin. Some of the Southern cantons were originally tied to the various Italian states before they joined the Republic.

2.) The current Super Bowl Champs are the Indianapolis Colts. If you're asking about what AFL teams won before the AFL-NFL Merger, it's the Jets (Super Bowl III) and the Chiefs (Super Bowl IV).
