I was involved in Scouting and earned my Eagle (way back in the day). Just curious as to how many others were involved in Scouting and how many earned their Eagle.

Hey! I was an Eagle

My dad and both of his brothers were scouts and adult leaders. Mom was a den mother.

I went to camp school, was a merit badge counselor, and received a handful of awards as an adult leader.......but I'm a bad role model for kids....so I'm gone. Stupid huh?

Not gay but am a bi -married guy who is an Eagle Scout. I believe in the Scouting program, but do not think any sex should be allowed ,experimenting or other wise in scouting programs. Scouting has to many good lessons and teaching to in anyway be tainted with sexual stuff. Once a true eagle scout you are always an eagle scout.

I took the liberty of asking a similar question, but up two levels in Society and Culture (I'd have asked in "Adolescent" but the natives are more hostile there).

No first hand knowledge here. I don't know if you can say for sure if any Scouts are necessarily gay, since that's an age for experimenting. I've heard and read various accounts (one of Shere Hite's reports includes at least one involving group sex), but not about any that were gay as adults. For the same reason, I don't think a gay scout program would fly, even though it sounds admirable in theory.

(Incidentally, congrats on your achievement!)

I am not a gay guy, but am an Eagle Scout, as was my dad. I'm sure there are tons of gays in scouting. I jerked with a couple of kids in my tent on scouting events. Isn't that just what boys do while looking at Playboys? It didn't make me gay, but I'm sure some scouts are.

Good for you. I hated it, all that regimented stuff and, looking back, ironic that in my adult life I kind of like uniforms and being in chrager.
