I was taking a look at whole foods(WFMI) and saw that its stock dropped severely like over 30% in November of 06. Does anyone know why this had happened.

It's been mainly their expansion coupled with the increasing competition out there. Wild Oats, Central Market, Market Street are just a few of the competitors. Plus, as mainstream competitors expand their fringe health alternatives, it'll provide even greater pressure on the chains like Whole foods to be more competitive.

Hope that helps!

I would think it had to do with the bad weather in California that severely crippled the avocado and citrus industries for the next couple of years.

Other grocery retailers are getting " into" the "organic" commodoties...but not charging consumers the way WFMI did when they had the whole field to themselves.
Competition... levels the playing field!!
