Ok so why do you guys seem to live your whole lives for this one day?

Guys if you think that women go way to far with weddings please weigh in.

Isn't it supposed to be about the life you guys will have together not the 50k you spent on the ceromony?

BTW if anyone else would like to tell me that I'm either generalizing or stereotyping just know that there is an entire show "Bridezillas" devoted to showing the hysteria of some women and weddings.

They are usually after the fairy tale and all that goes with it, including the promise that they will live happily ever after.
After being through that fiasco, most women would say the big wedding was not worth all the hype. It is expensive, a lot of work, stressful and did I mention a lot of work? Small weddings are just as final, and a lot more fun. It is entirely up to the Princess in question however.

What's wrong with having a party and having a good time?

People that have $ 200 weddings get divorced too, stereotyping and generalizing is not right.

Yeah, what a waste of 50k. Especially given the divorce rate being what it is.

Weddings and Marriage are BS these days. Chicks and dudes go and live it up by having all kinds of sex witha a variety of people in their late teens and through their 20's.

Then all of a sudden think marriage is a good idea. How fun is banging the same chick for the rest of your life. After a while, you will have done everthing and married life will be boring.

Your options will be to cheat then divorce. Or divorce first so you can sleep around again. Pretty poor prospects in either case because it will cost you at least half of everything if you dump her.

I think whatever rocks their boat. My own wedding cost me like $1000, that included rings, bride and groom costumes, food and booze. It was a ton of fun. But if someone wants to take out a loan to have a fancy wedding - that's fine too. Whatever makes them happy. I think, the dumbest thing to do is to feel like you need to "please" other people or to "keep up with the Joneses", and do the big expensive wedding solely for that reason. But if it truly makes someone happy - it's money well-spent, IMO.

My husband and I said one day, "We want to get married in 2 weeks". We spent about $400 on our wedding. We wanted and LOVED our small intimate wedding with only family and a few close friends. It took place in my mom's back yard and a friend of ours was the Justice of Peace. The weather was perfect and it was short and sweet.

Not all women dream of their wedding day. It was my idea for me and hubby to go to vegas! Just depends on the woman - stereotyping is never a good idea.
