Mine is 20-30 WPM and I taught myself to touch type (typing without looking at the keyboard) since 2 months, but I see other people have much higher typing speeds. Is my speed good progress in the time I learned? What do you recommend?

I took two classes, one in high school and one in college on typing. However as the technology has improved (I was on a typewriter), you can download software that will teach you how to type, some if them even turn it into a game, where you have to click on the right letter before the fruit falls down off the screen or something. Search your computer, a lot of computers have some software like that already on it. You start off with real simple stuff then you get into more complex stuff like number and special characters. Also, just like my teacher said, don't ever look at the keyboard..ever. You need to stop hunting and pecking. Once you start with your training, never look at the keyboard again, just press the button and learn the backspace key. You'll get to around 45 or 50 wpm in no time. I do about 60-70 wpm, depending on complexity.

good luck

I am currently typing 90 WPM and got there by practicing as follows:

I know it sounds a little unorthodox, but...

...Keep typing the same typing test until you improve by at least 10 WPM. Then change the test and do the same. I was blown away at how well this worked for me.

P.S. When you improve by 10, it will actually be a false reading, so try to improve until you get the same reading once through each test!!!
